What's keeping the church from making spiritually mature, fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, who are not only able to withstand the culture but are also actively producing disciples of Jesus themselves?
I have already made an effort to convince you that something is broken within the modern western church, and I will continue to share more research and statistics from studies that are being conducted. I realize that there will be a natural tendency on your part to blindly resist any and all criticisms of the church at large, and you will especially resist any perceived attack on your own particular traditions and way of structuring and conducting church.

Becoming and Producing Disciples of Jesus Christ

Your church has a serious problem. I’m sure that you’d love to respond by telling me the size of your congregation, the amount of giving, your service to the poor, or the number of new converts. But just for a moment, I hope you’ll suppress the urge to become defensive, because I’m truly not attacking you, your pastor, or your church. In fact, I believe that you have a sincere desire to win the lost and help the less-fortunate. I’m sure you invest your time and resources in a variety of activities and programs taking place at your church. But I want you to ask yourself a question, and I don’t want you to feel like it’s your duty to honor the sacrifice of everyone in your church by instantly responding ‘yes.’
